POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's tennis team battled for a 4-3 win over visiting Montana Friday afternoon at the Reed Gym Tennis Courts. The Bengals rebounded after losing the doubles point early, winning four singles matches to secure the win.
"We were down 1-3 and came back for a victory," Head Coach
Gretchen Maloney said. "The girls never stopped believing that we could win the match. At both No. 5 and No. 6 singles, we were down a set and they came back to win in three. Megan [Poe] save four match points at No. 5. It was an incredible team effort today."
Idaho State (7-9, 4-2 BSC) took an early lead at both No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, but Montana (7-11, 3-4 BSC) came roaring back, stealing the doubles point after winning 6-1 at No. 2 doubles and 6-4 at No. 3. No. 1 doubles went unfinished once the Griz clinched the doubles point.

Hristina Cvetkovic fell in two sets at No. 1 singles to UM's Julia Ronney, 6-4, 6-3, but the Bengals claimed the next singles match as
Huibre-Mare Botes defeated Cam Kincaid 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. The Griz took the next match with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles, but the Bengals claimed big wins at No. 3, No. 6 and No. 5 singles to clinch the win.
Louise-Mare Botes defeated Nathalie Joanlanne in a come-from-behind tiebreaker win, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4) while
Angela Walker also won in three sets with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6.
Megan Poe sealed the win with a huge three-set tiebreaker win at No. 5, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(7-1).
Idaho State is back in action Saturday, April 7 against visiting Northern Arizona at 12 p.m. in Reed Gym.
