OGDEN, Utah – The Idaho State women's tennis team handled Weber State 5-2 Friday morning in Ogden to remain undefeated in Big Sky play.
Idaho State (5-6, 3-0 BSC) battled for the doubles point, winning at No. 2 and No. 3 singles to secure the doubles point.
Huibre-Mare Botes and
Louise-Mare Botes fell 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, but
Madison Fenske and
Melissa Coburn responded with a big 6-3 win over Weber State's Tereza Pilzova and Emily Tanner at No. 3 doubles.
Megan Poe and
Hristina Cvetkovic then secured the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Sara Parker and McKenna Lloyd at No. 2 singles.
"The doubles point was crucial today," Head Coach
Gretchen Maloney said. "It gave us really good momentum going into singles."
In singles play, Idaho State collected wins at Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 6 to secure the 5-2 win.
Louise-Mare Botes opened the singles victories with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Pilzova at No. 3 singles while Cvetkovic followed with a 6-1, 7-5 win at over Caitlin Herb at No. 1 singles.
Huibre-Mare Botes continued the winning streak with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Pei-Hsuan Kuo at No. 2 singles, and
Megan Poe completed the singles wins with a three set battle over WSU's Lloyd at No. 6 singles, -6, 6-4, 13-11.
"Hristina played really clean tennis today," Maloney said. "The twins were also really mentally tough for us today."
Idaho State continues play against Air Force on March 17 in Boise, Idaho. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
