Bengals Drop Final Game to Weber State

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team lost 3-2 to Weber State on Saturday afternoon in Ogden, Utah.

"We played two really tough games this weekend," Idaho State coach Candi Letts said. "We just came up a little short. We competed in the first and third games. I am proud of how we competed with our team stepping up when we have had a couple of starters out."

Idaho State scored its two runs on four hits and committed no errors while Weber State scored three runs on nine hits and committed one error.

Ashlyn Ames took the loss, pitching a complete game, striking out two and walking four. Four different Bengals had hits.

Weber State led 1-0 after the first inning and maintained the lead through three innings. Idaho State tied the game at one in the fourth. Kelsey Breer led off with a double to left field and she later scored when Emma Bordenkecher doubled her home.

The Wildcats added two runs in the fifth and the Bengal rally fell short in the seventh.

In the final inning, Bordenkecher walked with one out and she would score on a double by Cassidy FitzGerald. The Weber State defense ended the rally to earn the win.

Idaho State plays its final home games this weekend on April 27-28 vs. SUU. Prior to the start of the April 28 game, senior Ashlyn Ames will be honored.
