POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team split a doubleheader at North Dakota, losing 4-1 in game 1 and winning game 2, 3-1.
Idaho State was held to 10 hits in the two games.
Haley Harrison was 3-7 with two RBIs.
Ashlyn Ames and
Kelsey Breer each had two hits. Breer also hit a home run .
Mariah Mulcahy earned the game 2 win. She tossed a seven inning complete game, allowing seven hits, three walks and striking out six. Ames took the loss in game 1, allowing four hits, four runs and striking out five.
In the 3-1 win ISU had eight hits, led by two from Harrison and Ames. North Dakota led 1-0 after the first inning. ISU tied it at one in the third inning on an RBI single by Harrison and took a 2-1 lead in the fifth on a double by
Makenzie VanSickle. Breer led off with a lead off homer in the sixth to give ISU the 3-1 lead.
In the 4-1 loss, the game was scoreless through four innings. Ames and North Dakota's pitcher Kaylin VanDomelan had no hitters going through four innings.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, North Dakota scored all four runs and had its four hits to take the 4-0 lead. Harrison had an RBI single in the sixth for the Bengals only run of the game.
Idaho State concludes the series Saturday in Grand Forks at 1 p.m. mountain time.
