Bengals Fall at Weber State

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team lost to Weber State 76-59 on Thursday evening at the Dee Events Center in Ogden, Utah.

Brandon Boyd led the Bengal scoring with 13 points. Kelvin Jones had 11 points and six rebounds and Balint Mocsan had 10 points.

Sam Dowd had four assists in 19 minutes off the bench.

Weber State shot 55 percent from the field while Idaho State shot 33 percent from the field. The Bengals were 6-26 from the three-point line and 11-14 from the free throw line.

"It is a simple game," Idaho State coach Bill Evans said. "We were 6-26 from the three-point line because we took bad shots. We lost because our shot selection wasn't good."

Idaho State played with Weber State early. The Bengals led 14-10 four minutes into the game after a 3-pointer by Chier Maker. Idaho State later led 25-18 with 9:36 left until halftime after a 3-pointer by Gary Chivichyan.

Weber State then closed out the first half on a 21-4 run to lead 39-29 at halftime.

Weber State opened the second half by taking a 44-29 lead. The Bengals then went on a run to cut the Wildcat lead to 51-45 with 13:28 remaining in the game after a 3-pointer by Jared Stutzman.

ISU would get no closer as Weber State extended its lead to as many as 18 points in the final 3 minutes of the game.

Idaho State is back in action Monday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. vs. Northern Colorado in Reed Gym.
