Women's Tennis Signs Hana Cho

POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State women's tennis coach Gretchen Maloney has announced the signing of Hana Cho.

Cho comes to Pocatello from Coquitlam, British Columbia and has prepped at Pinetree Secondary School.

"We are overjoyed that Hana is joining the Bengal family," Maloney said. "She is such a kind person and her positive energy  will be an asset to the team."

Cho has a long list of tennis accolades. She was the 2019 Doubles Provincial Champion and the 2019 Doubles National Semifinalist. She was ranked 22nd in Canada in U12 and she was a Provincial Singles finalist multiple times.

She was captain of her high school tennis team where she led the team to the Fraser Valley Championship and a fifth place finish in the Provincial Championships.

On choosing Idaho State Cho said, "I loved the teams dynamic and how close they were with each other. This made me think that it would be a great place to get the best university experience. Gretchen was so kind, welcoming and cared a lot about her players. I felt like she would be able to help me expand my game so that I can play the sport to the best of my abilities. I also liked the amount of resources that were available to the athletes to help them excel in their academic so that they can strive to do their best in school and sport. One thing that I was worried about while thinking about university was how I was going to balance these two things and with the amount of aid the students are able to get my worries subsided."

Cho plans to study biology or pharmacy at Idaho State.
