POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team heads into the 2019 Big Sky Conference Tournament as the No. 10 seed. The Bengals play No. 7 seed Southern Utah at 12 or 30 minutes after the conclusion of the 9:30 a.m. game on March 13.

Scouting SUU
Southern Utah is 14-15 and 9-11 in Big Sky Conference play. Cameron Oluyiatan leads SUU in scoring at 12.8 points a game. Brandon Better scores 12 points a game. Andre Adams averages 10.2 points and 6.3 rebounds and Harrison Butler scores 10.1 points and averages 6.6 rebounds. SUU scores 75.4 points a game and gives up 75.9 points. The T-Birds shoot .442 percent from the field and hold opponents to .430 percent.
In conference play, Oluyitan scores 12.8 points and Better scores 12.1 points while Butler and Adams averages 10.8 and 10 points a game. SUU averaged 73.7 points in league and gave up 76.7.

BENGALS IN THE BIG SKY TOURNAMENT
The Bengals are 16-24 in the Big Sky Conference tournament. In 2008 and 2009 the Bengals hosted first round games in Pocatello and beat Montana 67-65 in 2008 and Northern Colorado 67-60 in 2009. The Bengals then lost in the semi-finals to Portland State both years, 72-61 in 2008 and 61-53 in 2009.
The last time ISU won the conference tournament was during the 1986-87 season. The Bengals finished the regular season 5-9 in league and tied for fifth and won the tournament by beating Nevada 92-81 in the title game. The Bengals are looking for their first win in the Big Sky Tournament since beating Northern Colorado 67-60 on March 7, 2009.
Recapping the 70-68 Win Over Idaho
- The Idaho State men's basketball team rallied from a 16-point second half deficit to beat the University of Idaho 70-68 on Saturday night in Holt Arena.
- Idaho State trailed 51-35 with 16:17 left in the game. The Bengals then went on a 17-4 run to cut the Vandal lead to 55-52 after a jumper by
Gary Chivichyan with 10:26 to play.
- ISU continued to battle and would take its first lead at 67-65 following a basket by
Kelvin Jones with 1:50 to play. This was the first lead for Idaho State since 5-3 at the 17:27 mark of the first half.
- Idaho tied the game at 67 but Jones scored the final three points from the foul line to seal the win for the Bengals.
- Jones led Idaho State with 14 points on only four shot attempts. He was 8-13 from the free throw line, had seven rebounds and four blocks in 20 minutes of play.
- Jones scored the final 12 points for Idaho State in the final 4:28 of the game.

Balint Mocsan had 13 points and five rebounds while
Gary Chivichyan had 11 points and three steals.
- Idaho State shot 38.9 percent from floor and Idaho State shot 41.9 percent for the game. Idaho State shot 35.7 percent in the first half but improved to 42.3 in the final 20 minutes.
- The Vandals shot 54.5 percent in the first half but was held to 27.9 percent shooting in the final period.
- Idaho out rebounded ISU 18-15 in the first half but the Bengals would out rebound Idaho 39-33 for the game.
Chier Maker had a game-high eight rebounds.

Sam Dowd. He played 19 minutes and Evans complimented his effort, toughness and energy that he brought to the court.
Another 3-point School Record
Idaho State broke the school record it set last year for 3-pointers made in a season. The 2017-18 team made 252 3-pointers and this year's team has now made 266. This year's team has also set the school record for attempts with 721.

Idaho natives
Austin Smellie and
Jared Stutzman started together in games at Portland State and vs. Weber State. This is the first time since March 11, 2008 that two Idaho products have started for Idaho State. In 2008, Matt Stucki and Logan Kinghorn both started all season.
State Champs
This year Idaho State swept Idaho and Boise State. The Bengals beat Boise State 72-70 in Taco Bell Arena and then beat Idaho 72-55 in Moscow and 70-68 in Pocatello.
