Women's Basketball Set to Make Fifth WNIT Appearance

The team faces Arizona on Thursday

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Idaho State women's basketball team has earned an at-large bid to the 2019 WNIT after finishing 20-10 this season. The Bengals are slated to face the PAC-12's Arizona in the opening round of the tournament on Thursday. The game time will be announced by WNIT officials tomorrow.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to keep playing," said Head Coach Seton Sobolewski. "We were crossing our fingers hoping to get a postseason bid and we are excited about the WNIT. It is a big deal to be invited as an at-large to a national tournament"

This will be the first postseason appearance for the women's basketball team since 2013 and the fifth WNIT appearance in program history. It is the third time Idaho State has advanced to the postseason under Sobolewski.

The 64-team field is comprised of 41 squads that won at least 20 games during the season and five teams that either won or tied for first place for their conference title this season.

Idaho and Northern Colorado will join Idaho State in representing the BSC in the WNIT. The Big Sky was one of seven conferences to place three teams in the field.
