POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team smacked the Sacramento State pitching staff for 19 hits and swept the double header, rallying to win 3-2 in game 1 and 9-6 in game 2.
Nine different players had hits, led by
Aubrey Creekmore going 5-8 with four RBIs and scoring two runs. Creekmore also had the winning RBI with a walkoff single in game 1.
Courtney Wiley was 3-4 and scored two runs with three RBIs in game 2.
MaKenzie Van Sickle was 4-7 and scored four runs.
Emma Bordenkecher had two hits.
Autumn Pease earned the win in game 1. She struck out seven, allowed eight hits and walked twice.
Kelsea Sweeney allowed nine hits, six runs, walked four and struck out four in the game 2 win.
In game 1, Sacramento State led 2-1 going into the bottom of the seventh inning.
Jayden DeMoss singled up the middle to lead off the bottom of the seventh and Van Sickle followed with a single to right-center.
Haley Harrison reached on a fielders choice and Van Sickle would tie the game at two on a throwing error by the Sacramento State catcher. Bordenkecher reached on an infield single and she later scored the winning run on a walk-off single by Creekmore.
Van Sickle was 2-4 and ISU had six hits in the win while the Hornets had eight hits and committed three errors.
In game 2, the Bengals jumped out to a 9-1 win after three innings. ISU had a season-high 13 hits.
Creekmore was 4-4 with three RBIs and Wiley was 3-4 with three RBIs.
Van Sickle was 2-3 and scored three runs.
The series concludes Saturday at 1 p.m. The five seniors of
Haley Harrison,
Courtney Wiley,
Mariah Mulcahy,
Aubrey Creekmore and
MaKenzie Van Sickle will be honored prior to the start of the game.
