POCATELLO, Idaho - The Idaho State soccer team fell 3-0 to Utah State on Sept. 22 in Logan, Utah.
The Aggies scored 15 minutes into the match and were able to score another at 41 minutes to give them a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
They scored their third goal at 86 minutes.
"Disappointed with the way we started the game," Head Coach
Debs Brereton said. "We let Utah State dictate too much possession and they controlled the tempo. Conceding two goals before halftime created a bit of an uphill battle for ourselves. At halftime we changed the system of play and I thought the players executed brilliantly. We were definitely the stronger team in the second half and created some very good chances that should have closed the gap for us. The result does not reflect our great second half performance."
The Bengals had six shots with three on goal from senior Michaela Diderickson, junior
Marisa Hasebi, and junior
Lauren McGahie.
Senior goalkeeper
Katie Hogarth totaled eight saves.
"I know we will use this final hard lesson learned to prepare us for conference next week," Brereton said. "We are looking forward to playing in front of our awesome fans and starting conference very strong."
Idaho State kicks-off conference play next Friday, Sept. 27, hosting Portland State at 4 p.m. (MST) on Davis Field followed by another home match vs. Sacramento State on Sept. 29 at 1 p.m. (MST) on Davis Field.
Admission to this week's matches is $7 for adults, $5 for kids, and free for ISU students.
