POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State Athletics is excited to announce that the two-week
#Prepare2ROAR campaign successfully raised $260,867 in support of the department's nine individual sport clubs and other key spending accounts.
The campaign commenced with ten team captains conducting a fantasy-style draft of volunteer callers and featured current athletes, alumni, and coaches sharing their stories about what Idaho State University means to them and just how much donor support helps the Bengals.
Through 268 donations, ISU alumni and friends answered the call October 26 through November 6 by designating gifts to whichever sport club or fund they found most meaningful. In doing so, they helped jumpstart the Bengals fundraising efforts for the 2020-21 academic year and provided an important financial boost during the pandemic.
"The support we received throughout the campaign sent a powerful message to our department that the Bengal community cares deeply about Idaho State Athletics and the well-being of our student-athletes," said Associate Athletic Director
Joel Moersch. "We are extremely thankful for everyone's generosity who had a hand in this and we look forward to continuing the positive momentum into our competitive seasons."
234 of the #Prepare2ROAR donations were designated directly to individual sport clubs. Making up nearly 80% of the fundraising total ($206,178), these dollars will help Bengal head coaches address essential needs for their programs including new equipment, increased recruiting budgets, and better nutrition.
The Champions Fund, which provides support for the department in areas of greatest need, was the designation of choice for 15 of the contributions totaling 15% of the dollars raised.
Other areas receiving support included Bengal Athletic Boosters (student-athlete scholarships), strength and conditioning, equipment, and the Football Alumni Team which helps provide funding for summer school.
