ISU SCORE Program Receives Grant From Dairy West

POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State Athletics along with the university dietetics department has been awarded a $30,00 sports nutrition partnership grant from Dairy West.

Idaho State is one of six organizations Dairy West has partnered with in an effort to educate student athletes about the importance of fueling for performance while highlighting dairy food as an optimal fuel choice.

Idaho State's SCORE Dietitian, Natalie Christensen, spends time with student-athletes doing team talks, one-on-one nutrition counseling, grocery tours and cooking demonstrations.

"This program is making a difference in the lives of our student athletes," Christensen said.  "It is arming them with evidence-based sports nutrition information that can enhance their physical and mental health during a critical stage of life."

Dairy West launched the opportunity in the summer of 2020. The grants include $25,000 in program funding and up to $5,000 in dairy food supplies.

Dairy West is a regional dairy promotion organization established in 2017 to represent dairy farmers, processors and supply chain partners in Idaho and Utah. The organization raises awareness of the importance of dairy farming, promotes the health and nutritional benefits of dairy foods, and encourages global demand for Idaho, Utah and Western U.S. dairy foods through coordinated marketing and communications efforts, nutrition counseling and research programs.
