POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State men's tennis team (1-1 BSC) continued Big Sky Conference play with a win against the Bears of Northern Colorado (0-1 BSC) Saturday evening.
"The guys pulled off an incredibly close round conference win," said head men's tennis coach Mark Rodel. "The score doesn't reflect how close it actually was. We had strong doubles followed by strong performances by Patrik and Fynn to put us in a position to close out the match with Yohann sealing the win and Lukas pulling out a tough match after saving a match point."
In doubles play, Fynn Lohse and Lukas Ridemar defeated Kyle Pease and Julian Kenzlers (6-2). Gary Rendek and Patrik Trhac dropped a close match with Nick Wade and Tom Pudney (4-3).
Kyler Hartman and Yohann Prinsen rounded out the doubles play defeating John Giesberts and Andolfo Arroyo (6-1) to earn ISU the doubles point.
In singles, Ridemar defeated Pease in a hard fought (6-3, 4-6, 7-5). Lohse defeated Julian Kenzlers (6-4, 6-1) and Trhac defeated Arroyo (6-4, 6-0).
Rendek lost a close match to Pudney (5-7, 6-2, 4-6), and Hartman dropped a match to Giesberts (2-6, 1-6).
Prinsen picked up the final point for the Bengals battling to a (7-5, 7-5) win.
Tomorrow, the Bengals head to Colorado Springs to take on the Air Force Academy.
