POCATELLO, Idaho - In the first conference match of the season for the Idaho State women's tennis team, the Bengals (0-1 BSC) fell to the Eagles of Eastern Washington (1-0 BSC) 6-1.
Starting the day in doubles, Zoey Nelson and Rylee Braeden of EWU defeated
Megan Poe and
Hristina Cvetkovic at doubles one 6-2. On Doubles two,
Alexandra Arkhipov and
Angela Walker defeated Louise Waite and Yasmin Mansouri.Â
Rounding out the doubles play at three, Stepanie Broussard and Marta Heinen defeated
Madison Fenske and
Melissa Coburn 6-3 to take the doubles point.
In singles play, Cvetkovic picked up the lone win for the Bengals at singles one defeating Nelson in a hard fought 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
At singles two, Braeden beat Arkhipov 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. Waite defeated Coburn 0-6, 6-3, 6-1 and at singles four, Mansouri defeated Poe 6-2, 6-4.
Renata Gabuzyan defeated Walker 7-5, 6-1 and rounding out the singles competiton, Broussard defeated Fenske 7-6 (4-0), 6-2
The Bengals are back in action tomorrow as they take on Lewis and Clark State in Moscow, Idaho at the University of Idaho.Â
