POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team defeated Cal Baptist, 10-4, before falling 5-2 to UC Davis on Sunday afternoon in Sacramento, Calif.
"So proud of the way the team bounced back from a tough day yesterday," said Head Coach
Cristal Brown. "A lot of people contributed in big ways today and we had a lot of fun competing."
The Bengals had 16 hits on the day led by Isa Cargill with three.
Emma Bordenkecher,
Sydney Stefani, and
Shealee Perkins each brought in two RBIs for ISU.

Idaho State had 11 hits, led by Bordenkecher's double, homerun, two RBIs and two runs scored. Stefani and Perkins each had a double and two RBIs.
Morgan Hess and
Kaylee Butterworth followed with two hits and one RBI each.
Frankie Tago, Isa Cargill, and
Jayden DeMoss each added a hit.

Bordenkecher started things off for ISU with a solo homerun shot to right center in the top of the second inning, giving the Bengals a 1-0 lead.

The Lancers answered back in the third, hitting two doubles and four singles while capitalizing on a Bengal error to bring across four runs.

ISU sparked a momentum shift in the fifth inning that would take the game from Cal Baptist. DeMoss walked on a full count and would later cross home plate after two bunts and an RBI single from Hess to cut the Lancer lead, 4-2.

The momentum carried into the sixth when Bordenkecher doubled down the right field line to start the inning. A sacrifice bunt and two CBU errors allowed the Bengals to bring across two more, tying the game at 4.
Mailee Newman struck out two in the bottom of the inning, taking the game into the seventh.

A grand finale of a seventh inning gave ISU six runs off of seven hits to give them the 10-4 victory. Hess and Tago started off the inning with a pair of singles and was followed by a sacrifice fly from Bordenkecher to score the first run of the inning. Stefani scored two RBIs from a double down the left field line. DeMoss followed with a single before Perkins brought in two more runs off a double of her own. Butterworth had the last say of the inning, scoring another run on a single to right.

Two CBU pop fly's and a strikeout in the bottom of the seventh would mark the Bengals' second victory of the season.

Newman earned her first win of the season, striking out six batters and giving up no walks on ten hits.
ISU 2 UCD 4
Cargill lead the Bengals with two hits in the game.
UC Davis scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning. Their two run lead would last until Stefani once again doubled down the right field line in the top of the third to get the Bengals going. Perkins singled to right field, advancing Stefani to third. UCD caught Perkins stealing and Stefani scored on the play, putting ISU on the board down 2-1. An Aggie error allowed the Bengals to tie the game at two before retiring the inning.
The Aggies quickly took back their lead in the fourth, scoring two runs off of four hits.
Emma McMurray came in to relieve starting pitcher
Kiara Grover in the fifth.
Two singles, a walk, and a wild pitch brought across another run for UC Davis in the bottom of the sixth, leading them to a 5-2 victory.
Grover will take the loss after giving up seven hits, four earned runs, and two walks.
Idaho State plays in the UC Riverside Classic next weekend, Feb. 14-16, in Riverside, Calif.
