Ashleigh Vella Named to Women's Basketball All-Decade Team

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State women's basketball program announces Ashleigh Vella as a member of its all-decade team.

Vella, a 6'1 forward from Melbourne, Australia, joined the Bengal program from 2009-2013. She earned several awards during her time at ISU including being named a  two-time Big Sky Honorable mention (2010-12) while going on to make second team All-Big Sky her senior season (2012-13). Vella helped lead the Bengals to a 2012 Big Sky Championship and a 2012 NCAA tournament appearance. In 2013, Vella was a part of the team that appeared in the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). She is a member of the 1,000 point club and is ranked No. 7 on ISU's all-time scoring list with 1,341 points. Vella is also ranked ISU's No. 7 all-time rebounder with 751 boards, making her just one of 11 Bengals to score over 1,000 points and over 500 rebounds.

"Ash holds a special place in my heart for being the first commitment to ISU when I arrived 13 years ago," said Head Coach Seton Sobolewski. "I had no head coaching experience at the time and she took a chance on me. I'm so happy her chanced paid off! She's a champion and one of our great all around players."

The all-decade team strives to honor those who have made a significant impact to the Idaho State women's basketball program. 

There are nine selections to the all-decade team. Three selections will be announced each week for three weeks, ending on Thursday, Sept. 24.
 
To be eligible for the all-decade team, a student-athlete must have played at least one year between the 2010-11 and 2019-20 academic years.
