POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State women's basketball program honors Kaela Oakes as a member of its all-decade team.
Oakes, originally from Chandler, Ariz., competed for the ISU women's basketball program from 2009-2013. Her sophomore year (2010-11), Oakes earned Big Sky honorable mention and would go on to earn first team All-Big Sky her junior year (2011-12). That same season she helped lead the Bengals to a 2012 Big Sky Championship and a NCAA Tournament appearance. In the 2012-13 season, she finished her senior year strong, earning a second team All-Big Sky nod while finishing her career in the 1,000 point club with 1,171 points. The team would make it to the WNIT that season.
"I have a tremendous amount of respect for who Kaela is," said Head Coach
Seton Sobolewski. "She excelled at so many different things... basketball, school, personal life. She does the right things for the right reasons. All the success she's had in life is a by-product of the type of person she is."
The all-decade team strives to honor those who have made a significant impact to the Idaho State women's basketball program.
There are nine selections to the all-decade team. Three selections will be announced each week for three weeks, ending on Thursday, Sept. 24.
To be eligible for the all-decade team, a student-athlete must have played at least one year between the 2010-11 and 2019-20 academic years.
