Idaho State Cross Country Competes at Dixie State Invitational

POCATELLO, Idaho - The Idaho State cross country teams opened up the 2021 winter season at the Dixie State Invitational in Saint George, Utah, on Saturday morning.

Both teams opened up their season against Dixie State, California Baptist, Utah Valley, Southern Utah, Utah State, and Weber State.

Women's Race

Katie Weeden crossed the finish line first for the Bengals, running the 6K race in 22:17.0. She was followed by Laura Alicke with a time of 22:28.5 and Molly Olsen finishing a few seconds behind at 22:30.3.

Haven Lambrite finished with a time of 23:06.0 and Keely Wolf followed just behind at 23:34.4 in her first race as a Bengal.

Men's Race

D'artagnan Kilgore finished the race first for the Bengals, running the 8K in 25:26.4 a new personal best. 

Kilgore was followed by Ashton Hysell who competed in his first collegiate race today. He finished with a time of 25:45.1. Hysell was followed by Joe Simmions with a time of 26:03.8. 

Freshman Brandon Walker and Caden Byrer came in after Simmions, these two also competed in their first race for the orange and black. They ran times of 26:18.6 and 27:09.1, respectively.

Looking Ahead

The Bengals won't be back in action on a cross country course until the 2021 Big Sky Cross Country Winter Championships Saturday, February 27. They will get some reps on the track at the Weber State Invite on January 29-30, and Montana State University Dual meet on February 5.
