POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State women's tennis team opened its 2021 spring season on Saturday afternoon at the University of Utah. The Bengals lost 7-0 but competed well in several matches.
At No. 3 doubles, freshman twin-sisters, Sol and
Lola O'Lideadha lost a 7-6 (7-4) decision. In singles play Sol lost 6-4, 6-1 at No.3 singles while Lola lost 6-0, 6-3 at No. 5 singles.
"It was a good first match," Idaho State coach
Gretchen Maloney said. "We were so close at No.3 doubles with a match point. We need to keep working on consistency from the baseline. It is fun to be playing again. We are grateful."
Hristina Cvetkovic and
Hana Cho lost 6-1 at No. 1 doubles and
Angela Walker and
Alexandra Arkhipov lost 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, Arkhipov lost 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles while Cho lost 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Walker lost 6-2, 6-1 at No.3 singles and
Megan Lang-Gould lost 6-2, 6-3.
The Bengals play at Utah State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
