POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State women's tennis team defeated Utah State 4-3 on Sunday afternoon in Logan, Utah.
"The girls really fought so hard today," Idaho State coach
Gretchen Maloney said. "We won the doubles point and used the momentum into singles play. We never stopped believing. Our consistency serving and returning was much better."
The Bengals earned the doubles point thanks to a 6-2 win by
Hristina Cvetkovic and
Hana Cho over USU's Carolina Millan and Sidnee Lavatai at No. 1 doubles.
At No. 3 doubles, Sol and
Lola O'Lideadha beat Zara Ryan and Lillian Okamoto, 7-5.
In singles play, ISU earned wins at No. 3,4,5. At No. 3 singles
Hana Cho earned a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Lisa Kung. Cho was down 4-1 in sets two and three before battling back for the victory.
At No. 4 singles,
Sol O'Lideadha earned a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Annaliese County.
Angela Walker earned the victory at No. 5 singles after the Aggies Sidnee Lavatai retired due to injury.
Idaho State returns to play Feb. 6 for a contest at Boise State. Match time is at 11 a.m. The Bengals then Lewis-Clark State in Boise on Feb. 7 at 10 a.m.
