POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State soccer wrapped up the 2021 season Tuesday afternoon in Greeley, Colo. The Bengals fell to the Bears 7-2 in the final match of the season.
The Orange and Black set the tone early when Taylin Butterbaugh sent a ball forward that was wrangled by Gabby Warta, who then split the UNC defense and put the ball past the Bear's keeper for the Bengals to take a 1-0 lead early in the match.
After the Bears responded tying the game at 1-1, the Bengals had another look at goal off of a set piece.
Karlin Wurlitzer took the corner kick and played it perfectly to Warta, who then bodied the ball into the back of the net for her sixth goal of the season.
The Bengals went into the half with the match tied 2-2.
In the second half, the Bengals fought till the end while the Bears were able to pull away.
