Volleyball Set for 2021 Season Finale

POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State volleyball returns home for the final time this season as they host Southern Utah and Northern Arizona.

First up are the Southern Utah Thunderbirds on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 7:00 p.m.

Saturday is Senior Day as the Bengals face off against NAU at 1:00 p.m. Senior Recognition will begin at 12:55 with the match to follow.

Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN+. Mark Liptak will be on the call on KISU 91.1 and both matches will have live stats available.

Quick Scout - Southern Utah

The Southern Utah Thunderbirds are 6-20 on the season with a 2-12 Big Sky conference record.

SUU is averaging a .132 hitting percentage and 10.1 kills per set. Defensively the Tbirds average 13.1 digs per set and at the net a third-place conference high 2.32 blocks per set.

SUU has two players in the top-five in blocks. Raegen Ashby is ranked no. 3 with 104 blocks averaging 1.11 per set and Carissa Richie averages 1.07 per set.

Offensively, the Thunderbirds are led by Stacey Hone who averages 2.26 kills per set and has 217 total kills this year.

The Thunderbirds are 1-11 in their previous 12 matches.

The two teams previous meeting was in Cedar City on Oct. 16. SUU was able to hit .253 as they defeated the Bengals 3-0.

Quick Scout – Northern Arizona

The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks are 11-12 this season with a 9-5 Big Sky conference record.

The Lumberjacks are averaging a .224 attack percentage while holding opponents to .196 percent. NAU averages 12.1 kills per set. The Lumberjacks attack percentage ranks them second in the conference, just behind Montana State. The teams are tied at .224 but Montana State has more total attacks and kills.

Defensively, the Lumberjacks are currently ranked fourth in the conference, averaging 14.49 digs per set.

Ryann Davis currently ranks no. 3 in the conference in hitting percentage with a .320 average and 133 kills. Taylor Jacobsen ranks no. 2 in kills with 273 total averaging 3.50/set.

On the service line, Jacobsen also ranks no. 2 in service aces averaging .50 a set.

The Lumberjacks are on a three-game winning streak. This past Saturday, the Lumberjacks defeated Sacramento State 3-0 in Flagstaff.

In the previous meeting between the two schools, NAU hit .270 and out blocked ISU 9-0 en route to a 3-0 victory.
