PROVO, Utah - The Idaho State football team lost to No. 15 BYU 59-14 on Saturday in front of a crowd of 63,470 at Lavell Edwards Stadium.
BYU led 35-0 early in the second quarter before the Bengals were able to get on the scoreboard. After
Tyler Gonzalez recovered a BYU fumble, ISU scored when
Jared Scott caught a six-yard touchdown pass from Sagen Gronauer.
Idaho State led 42-7 at halftime and 49-7 late in the third. After a BYU touchdown late in the third, Benjiman Omayebeu returned the ensuing kickoff 81 yards and
Zach Wright recovered a fumble on the play to give Idaho State the ball first and goal on the seven-yard line.
Tyevin Ford scored on the first play to make the score 49-14.
Idaho State had 238 yards of total offense while BYU had 560. Ford rushed for 47 yards on 13 carries and one touchdown.
Scott caught five passes for 31 yards and one touchdown and
Tanner Conner caught four balls for 81 yards. Sagen Gronauer was 15-27 with a touchdown and interception and 167 passing yards.
Jihad Brown had a career-best eight tackles.
Jared Gibson and
Zach Wright each had seven tackles.
Jacob Jones and
Tyler Gonzalez each recovered a fumble while
Oshea Trujillo forced a fumble.

Tanner Conner surpassed 2,000 receiving yards for his career. He has 2,049 yards for his career. He needs 155 yards to move into the Top 10 for most receiving yards in Idaho State history.
