POCATELLO, Idaho - The Idaho State volleyball team fell to Montana State in 5 Sets (22-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-22, 7,15) Sunday night in Bozeman.
The Bengals(4-6) finished the night hitting .167 to Montana State's (6-2) .186.
Three Bengals had double-digit kills. Tracy Kennedee lead the team with her second double-double of the season with 12 kills and 12 digs. Sadie Gardner recorded her first double-double of the year with 10 kills and 14 digs.
Kaia Rhodes hit .318 for the game with 10 kills on 22 attacks.
"Our team keeps battling and competing," said Head Coach Sammi Stuart. "I'm happy with how we continue to hone our process"
The game started with a close 22-25 Set 1 loss. The Bengals bounced back and hit .389 in the second set while holding the Bobcats to .097 to win Set 2, 25-19.
After dropping a close Set 3, the Bengals came back to win Set 4, 25-22. During the Set, the Bengals showed their defensive strength, holding the Bobcats to a .000 hitting percentage and out-blocking MSU five to two. For the second game in a row, the Bengals forced a fifth set against the Bobcats.
In the fifth, the Bengals traded points with the Bobcats until after a 3-3 tie, the Bobcats were able to pull away and eventually win the set 15-7 and the match 3-2.
The Bobcats just edged out the Bengals 12-11 in blocks. Taylor Meeks lead the team with eight blocks. Raegan Kunz had six and Rhodes followed with 4.
The Bengals are back in action Sunday, Feb. 28 as they host the University of Northern Colorado in Reed Gym.
