Gallery: (2-26-2021) Idaho State vs Weber State
 
POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State football team lost 49-21 to No. 3 Weber State in the season and home opener of the 2021 spring season.
The Bengal defense played tough in the first half as Idaho State trailed 14-0 at halftime. But the Bengals turned the ball over three times in the game, allowing the Wildcats to extend their lead in the second half.
Idaho State had 415 yards of total offense while Weber State finished with 638 yards.
Malakai Rango led the running game with 70 yards on 15 carries while 
Tanner Conner caught five passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns.
Xavier Guillory caught two passes for 55 yards and Christian Frederickson caught five passes for 48 yards. 
Tyler Vander Waal was 17-42 with three touchdowns and two interceptions. He threw for 304 yards.
Conner Will led the defense with 12 tackles while 
Josh Alford had seven.
Trailing 14-0 at halftime, Idaho State scored on its opening possession to cut the Wildcat lead to 14-7 with 13:37 left in the third quarter. The score came when Vander Waal hit Conner for a career-long 74 yard touchdown reception.
Weber State then followed with a touchdown to lead 21-7. On the Bengals next possession they had a turnover and the Wildcats responded with another touchdown to lead 28-7.
Weber State then built a 42-7 lead after the third quarter. The Bengals managed two fourth quarter touchdowns and Vander Waal hit 
Jeff Harris on a 13-yard strike with 14 minutes left in the game.
Conner later caught a 52-yard touchdown pass from Vander Waal for the Bengals final points of the game.
Idaho State plays at SUU on Saturday, March 6 at 12 p.m.
