POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State softball fell in the first two games of its series against Weber State Saturday. Game one ended with a 8-6 Weber State victory and the Bengals fell in game two 19-0.
Game One ISU 6 – WSU 8
Idaho State got on the board first when Isabel Cargill reached first on a fielders choice bringing in JJ Martinez.
Over the next four innings, the Wildcats put eight runs on the board and took a 8-1 lead heading into the sixth.
The Bengals didn't back down, scoring five runs in the top of the sixth to pull the game to 6-8.
The Bengals were able to get the tying run in scoring position in the seventh but couldn't finish and game one ended 8-6.
The Bengals and Wildcats both had nine runs in the game, with Weber committing four errors. Cargill and Shea Perkins both had two hits
Game two ISU 0 – WSU 19
The Weber State wildcats took advantage of a 10 run second inning to take game two of the series and earn a run-rule victory over the Bengals 19-0.
Morgan Hess, Angelica Cano and Mailee Newman had hits in the five innings played.
In her one inning pitched, Katie Machado had two strikeouts.
The teams wrapup the series tomorrow with first pitch set for 11 a.m.
