POCATELLO, Idaho - The Idaho State soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw with the Westminster Griffins Friday afternoon.
"After a slow start our team showed a lot of resilience to grind ourselves back into the game," said Head Coach
Debs Brereton. "They worked relentlessly to get our first shutout on the road against a solid opponent and this is something we can look forward to building upon.
I'm very proud of how this team is committed to working for each other and they continue to build their trust in each other daily. The sport psychology focus we have introduced in recent months is shining through in our performances. I was impressed how we were able to fight to stay in a high performance mindset as the game progressed.
Throughout the first three games every player on our young team has relished playing time. These experiences have provided some valuable lessons and instilled confidence. Our players know that we are a team on the rise. We cannot wait to start Big Sky games on March 19th."
The Griffins outshot the Bengals 24-5 and freshman goalkeeper Mckayla Wetzel recorded 11 saves to hold the Griffins scoreless.
The Bengals return to action Friday, Mar. 19 as they open Big Sky Conference play against the Northern Colorado Bears on Davis Field.
