POCATELLO, Idaho - The Idaho State women's tennis team travels to Ogden, Utah on Friday, April 2 at 1 p.m. for a critical conference match-up against the Weber State Wildcats.
"We are really looking forward to our match tomorrow with Weber," said Head Coach
Gretchen Maloney. "With only three conference matches this season there is a lot of importance on each one."Â
With the conference being split into North and South Divisions, just two teams from each side will make it to the Big Sky Conference Tournament. The match between the Bengals and Weber State holds a large weight for both teams moving forward.Â
Idaho State and Weber State have not competed since the 2019 season when the Bengals fell short 5-2. The decision between the two teams has been split with three wins and three losses each in the last six meetings.Â
Weber State holds a 4-9 record and a 0-0 mark in Big Sky Conference Play. The match against the Bengals will be the first conference match of their season.Â
The Bengals returned from a week in Arizona where they competed in their first conference match against Northern Arizona. ISU fell 5-2 but were close in several matches. Despite the loss the Bengals had a great effort in the match against the top team in the conference.Â
"The girls need to continue to play aggressive doubles like we did at NAU," said Maloney. "In singles we need to keep the ball deep and be consistently aggressive."
