POCATELLO, Idaho - The Idaho State softball team fell to BYU Tuesday afternoon in Provo 10-1.
 The Bengals fought hard against the Cougars for the first three innings of the game. ISU got on the board first in the top of the 3rd after loading the bases on three consecutive hits. Frankie Tago then brought in the run on a sacrifice hit.
The Cougars offense proved to be too strong in the following innings as the Cougars scored 10 runs in the 4th and 5th to end the game 10-1 and earn a run-rule victory.
The Bengals hit .238 overall. Rheanne Lewis had two hits on three at bats and reached a third time on an error by the Cougar pitcher.
Morgan Hess, Isabel Cargill and Kaylee Butterworth also had hits including Hess' leadoff double In the top of the fourth.
In the first three innings pitched, Emma McMurray gave up three hits, three runs and had two strike outs.
The Bengals return to Big Sky play this weekend as they head to Oregon to take on the Portland State Vikings. The Friday Doubleheader starts at 2:00 p.m.
