Bengals Fight Hard Against UNT in Honolulu

POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State soccer fell to the University of North Texas 4-1 in Honolulu, Hawaii Sunday evening.

Five minutes in to the match, the Mean Green fouled ISU setting up a free kick for Karlin Wurlitzer who proceeded to setup Deborah Pond for her first official goal as a Bengal.

The Orang and Black held off UNT for the next 35 minutes before UNT was able to net two goals in the 40th minute.

In the second half, the two teams continued to battle before UNT scored its third goal of the match in the 56th minute.

The two squads remained scoreless until the final minute of the game when UNT snuck in a goal to finish the match 4-1.

McKayla Wetsel had seven saves facing 21 UNT shots, just one shy of tying her career record.

The Bengals are back on the home pitch Friday, Sept. 3 hosting Dixie State at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and KISU and will feature live stats.
