RENO, Nev.- The Idaho State football team lost 49-10 to the University of Nevada of the Mountain West Conference on Saturday night at Mackay Stadium.
The Bengals trailed 21-7 at halftime. On Idaho State's first possession of the third quarter
Kevin Ryan kicked a 43-yard field goal to cut the Wolf Pack lead to 21-10. Nevada then scored 28 straight points to put the game away.
Idaho State had 283 yards of total offense while Nevada tallied 586. The Bengals had 141 yards rushing and 142 passing.
Malakai Rango had 10 carries for 72 yards.
Xavier Guillory caught five passes for 54 yards.
Tyler Vander Waal was 10-17 for 107 yards before leaving the game due to injury.
Hunter Hays saw his first action at quarterback in the second half. He was 5-8 for 35 yards.
Jacob Jones led the Bengals with eight tackles.
Nevada scored on its opening possession of the game to take a 7-0 lead with 8:33 left in the first quarter.
The Bengals responded with a 10 play, 75 yard drive that took 4:16. The drive was capped by a
Oshea Trujillo barreling in from one-yard out. The scoring drive was set up by a Rango 39-yard run.
The Wolf Pack led 14-7 after the first quarter and 21-7 at halftime.
On ISU's opening possession of the third quarter,
Kevin Ryan connected on a 43-yard field goal to cut the Nevada lead to 21-10 with 9:56 left in the third quarter.
Nevada scored seven points in the third quarter and 21 in the fourth to seal the victory.
Idaho State has this upcoming week off before hosting Sacramento State on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 1 p.m. in Holt Arena.
