POCATELLO, Idaho - The 2021-2022 women's tennis team opens its fall season with a home Invitational September 17-19.
The Bengals home invitational is hosted outside at the Capell tennis courts in Chubbuck, Idaho. Matches begin at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, followed by 9:00 a.m. start times on September 18 and 19.
The ISU home invitational hosts teams from Boise State, Utah State, University of Montana, Dixie State, and Weber State.
The Idaho State University women's tennis team hosted its fall invitational tournament for five consecutive years starting in 2015. Due to Covid-19, the team was forced to put their annual tournament and the rest of the fall season on hold in 2020. This year marks the sixth time the Bengals host their tournament.
This year the roster consists of two seniors, four sophomores and two freshmen. Only the senior players have previously competed in a fall season. The other players have the opportunity to compete in their first fall season that consists of the home opener at ISU and four additional tournaments.
"It's so good to be having a fall season again," said Head Coach
Gretchen Maloney. "We have very strong schools coming to join us this weekend for our invite. I look forward to seeing how the girls perform after a solid season last year. We have new doubles combinations and it's going to be exciting to see them work together."
