POCATELLO, Idaho - Idaho State soccer fell to Eastern Washington 3-1 in the first Big Sky Conference match of the season for the Orange and Black.Â
The Bengals started the game off strong with the offense continually pressing the Eagles' defense. That trend continued the first 45 minutes with the Bengals outshooting the Eagles 10-5.
EWU was able to score two goals and head into the locker room at halftime with a 2-0 lead.Â
The Bengals continued pressing in the second half continuing to out shoot the eagles and for four corners compared to EWU's one.Â
In the 88th minute, after a Bengal corner made it into the box, Morgen Fried passed the ball to Gabby Warta who rocketed it into the back of the net for the Orange and Black.Â
The Bengals fought to the end before falling 3-1 to the Eagles.Â
Gabby Warta led the Orange and Black with five shots with two on goal and one goal.Â
10 different Bengals contributed to the Bengals 22 shots. This is the second game in a row that the Bengals have had more than 20 shots.Â
Kylee Atkins played the second half in goal for the Bengals. She had 3 saves facing nine Eagle shots.Â
The Bengals return to the pitch Sunday, Sept. 26th to take on Idaho in an ICCU Battle of the Domes match. Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM.Â
