POCATELLO, Idaho - The Idaho State women's tennis team opened their Spring 2022 campaign with a 7-0 win over Dixie State on Sunday afternoon in Ogden, Utah.
"It was a great first match for the girls today," said Head Coach
Gretchen Maloney. "In doubles we had a lot of success moving forward and closing the net well. In singles the girls really worked on playing clean and keeping the ball deep."
The Bengals played strong out of the gate with a 6-1 doubles win by
Megan Lang-Gould and
Adriene Pavek on court 3 followed quickly by a 6-2 win on court 2 from
Hana Cho and Leah Kuruvilla.
Lola O'Lideadha started things off in singles with a decisive 6-0, 6-1 win at position 3 followed by Cho with a 6-0, 6-3 win at number 1. Sol O'Lideaha won 6-3, 6-3 at position 4 to clinch the match.
It was Kuruvilla's first time suiting up in orange and black and the freshman rose to the occasion, winning her match 6-3, 6-3 at the number 5 spot.
Lang-Gould and Pavek finished off the day with a three set win each to claim the singles sweep.
The Bengals are back on the road February 4 and 5 to take on University of Utah and Utah State.
