SALT LAKE CITY, Utah- The Idaho State men's basketball played the University of Utah tough for 40 minutes before falling 70-58 on Monday night at the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
Utah's biggest lead of the game was 14 points at 70-56 with under a minute left in the game. To get the 14 point lead the Utes went on a 17-6 run over the final nine minutes to secure the victory.
Kolby Lee led Idaho State with 15 points on 7-17 shooting. Brock Mackenzie scored 13 first half points while Miguel Tomley had 11 points.
ISU shot 35 percent for the game while Utah shot 45 percent for the game. The Bengals were 8-31 from the three-point line but was out rebounded 44-29. ISU only turned the ball over nine times.
Idaho State trailed 38-31 at halftime and Utah's biggest lead of the half was 10 points. The game was tied four times in the first half.
Utah led by 12 points early in the second half at 45-33. ISU then went on a run to cut the Ute lead to 53-52 with 9:39 left following a 3-pointer by
Austin Smellie.
The Bengals had good looks down the stretch to take the lead or stay within striking distance but the shots fell short.
Idaho State plays the University of Denver on Friday, November 18 at 7 p.m. in Reed Gym.
