Bengals Drop Five Set Match to Bobcats

POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State volleyball ended the 2022 regular season at home infront of over 500 Bengal fans.  Idaho State (13-15, 5-11 BSC) fell to the Montana State Bobcats in five sets.

The match started with a tribute to the six seniors in Idaho State's program. Kennedy Tracy, Taylor Burnham, Rachel Warren, Rachael Driskel, Dani Devlin and Andri Dewey walked out on the court at Reed with sound of the Bengal faithful cheering them on for the seasons of work they put in for ISU.

The match started with an exciting battle between the two programs. Near the end of the first set, Montana State forced a match point, but the Bengals didn't give up fighting back and winning the set 28-26 to go up 1-0 on the match.

Idaho State continued it's momentum in the 2nd set. Taking a early lead. Montana State would tie the set up at 15-15 but the Bengals didn't let up and after a back-and-forth battle the Bengals took back the lead.

With a 24-22 set point, ISU senior Kennedy Tracy took the set and pounded the ball past the MSU defense, ending the set in favor of the Bengals.

The remaining three sets, went the way of Bobcats, the Bengals continued to fight but MSU was able to come back in the final three sets and win the match.

While the loss is not the way the Bengals wanted the regular season to end, but the season is not over yet for the Orange and Black.

The Bengals have earned the No 8 seed at the 2022 Big Sky Volleyball Champioships in Ogden, Utah.

ISU will face off against the No. 1 seed UNC Bears on Wednesday, Nov. 23.
