Bengals Travel to Phoenix to Take On Antelope

Pocatello, ID- The Idaho State Bengals will be traveling to Phoenix, Arizona this week where they will be battling against the Grand Canyon University Antelopes Tuesday night in the Grand Canyon University Arena. This will be the second ever meeting between these two universities as the Bengals beat the Antelopes in their only previous matchup in 2014, 67-51.
 
GCU comes into the game with a record of 8-4 on the year, winning their previous matchup against Pepperdine last weekend by ten in overtime. The Antelope are averaging 71.8 points per game on 43.8 percent shooting from the field and 33.33 percent shooting from deep.
 
The Antelope have been absolutely lock down early on this season especially on the defensive end of the floor and the glass. Currently GCU ranks 19th in the nation in scoring defense (59.8 PPG) and 14th in the nation in field goal percentage defense (37.1%). The Antelope are averaging 39.5 rebounds per game (43rd in the country), 28.4 defensive rebounds per game (31st in the country), and are outrebounding their opponents by 5.2 rebounds per game (69th in the country).
 
The Bengals will look to bounce back against the Antelope behind their big start from three-point land his season. The Bengals are averaging 9.1 three's per game this year (44th in the nation) lead by Brock Mackenzie who is currently 21th in the nation in three point percentage (46.4%) and 49th in the nation in three pointers made (32).

The Idaho State men's basketball team lost to the University of Washington Huskies Saturday night, 90-55, in Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion. This win will lift the Huskies' record to 9-3 on the year.
 
The Bengals were led by center, Brayden Parker, who finished with a team high 15 points and seven rebounds while shooting 7-of-12 from the field. Brock Mackenzie chipped in 14 points on 6-of-14 shooting, and Maleek Arington tallied nine points, three assists, and three steals off the bench for Idaho State.
 
The Bengals fall to 3-9 on the season and will be back in action Tuesday night at 6 p.m. in Phoenix, Arizona where they will take on the Grand Canyon University Antelopes.
