Bengals Back Home for Game with St. Thomas

POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State women's basketball returns to Reed Gym for its final home non-conference game of the season. The Bengals will welcome in the St. Thomas Tommies from St. Paul, Minnesota. Tip-off is set for 2:00 PM.

The Game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and Live Stats will be available. There will also be a radio broadcast on KISU with Mark Liptak on the call.  

Bengal Bites

The Bengals opened the 2022-23 regular season on 11/07 with a 62-42 win over the Westminster Griffins.

Finley Garnett had a career night against Westminster, scoring the first double-double of the season, a career-high 20 pts, 10 rebound effort

Against the CBU lancers on 11/26 Idaho State had 3 separate players record double-doubles. Callie Bourne, Laura Bello and Kacey Spink, this is believed to be the first time in ISU WBB history that this has occurred.

Seton Sobolewski recorded his 250th win as head coach on 11/22/2022 against Montana Tech

Freshman Kacey Spink has dazzled on defense, averaging 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game for the Orange and Black. Spink ranks 8th in the Big Sky in boards and 5th in steals.

Laura Bello ranks 4th in the conference in rebounding with 8 per game on average

ISU has the 30th-best scoring defense in the NCAA and the No.1 spot in the Big Sky Conference, holding opponents to an average of 54.14 points scored.

Callie Bourne scored her 1,000th career point in the Bengals' win over Montana Tech. Callie is the 22nd player in ISU history to pass the four-figure mark and the first Bengal since current assistant coach Dora goles passed the mark in the 2021-22 season.

ISU picked up its first DI win of the year, defeating California Baptist on 11/26.

 

Quick Scout – St. Thomas

This will be the 2nd all-time meeting of the two programs.

The two teams met last year in Minnesota, The Bengals took down the Tommies 67-57. The game was highlighted by Dora Goles scoring the 1,000th point of her career.

 

The Tommies are 2-3 on the season with wins against South Carolina State and Presbyterian and losses coming to UNI, Illinois State and UIC.

St. Thomas has averaged 60.2 ppg with a .395 field goal percentage. From three, the Tommies are shooting .320 with 6.6 made-per-game average.

#4 Jade hill leads St. Thomas offensively, averaging 14.6 ppg with a .366 shooting average.

St. Thomas has outrebounded opponents on average 34 to 32.4.

Their previous loss was a 75-71 overtime loss to UIC where four different Tommies scored in double-digits and as a team shot 42.9 percent from the field.
