POCATELLO, Idaho- It was the game Idaho State coach
Ryan Looney had been waiting to see all season. The Idaho State men's basketball team defeated Montana, 86-63, on Saturday night in Reed Gym. The win snapped a 22-game losing streak to the Griz as ISU's last win was 67-65 on Dec. 31, 2009.
The Bengals led the entire contest and had four players in double figures led by
Malik Porter's, 20 points and 10 rebounds. Porter was 9-14 from the field and played 29 minutes.
Liam Sorensen had a career-high 19 rebounds on 5-7 shooting from the field. He was 3-3 from the three-point line in 38 minutes of play.
Jared Rodriguez had 16 points and
Tarik Cool added 10 points.
The Bengals shot 62.5 percent for the game and Montana shot 41.2 percent. Idaho State was 7-14 from the three-point line and 19-24 from the free throw line.
The Bengals had 18 assists. Cool and Sorensen combined for 15 of the 18.
The Bengals out rebounded Montana 37-15 as Rodriguez added eight and Sorensen six.
Idaho State led 43-33 at halftime and led by as many as 24 points late in the second half.
The Bengals return to the court Monday, Feb. 7 to host Montana State. Tipoff is at 6 p.m.
