Softball Returns to Pocatello for 2022 Home Opener Against Sac State

POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State softball returns to Miller Ranch for the 2022 Big Sky Home Opener. The Bengals host Sacramento State in three games over March 25-26.

First pitch of game one is set for Friday at 1:00 PM with game two to start 30 mins after the conclusion.

The two teams return on Saturday to play a single game at 12:00 PM.

The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Live Stats Available.

Mark Liptak will be on the call on KISU for game one on Friday and the single game on Saturday.

Bengal Bites

·        On March 18 in the Bengal's win over Maine, Idaho State hit 6 doubles. This ties the team single game record for doubles hit.

·        In the Bengals 11-0 win over Abilene Christian on 2/11, pitcher Emma McMurray recorded her first career shutout and the Bengals had their first mercy-rule win since 2018.

·        both Piper Tago and Isabella Hanson recorded their first NCAA Career home runs during the UTEP Invitational 2/10-12.

·        Against Cal State Fullerton on 2/19, Angelica Cano recorded the first walk-off of the season, a solo home run over center with two outs and two strikes.

·        The Bengals defeated Boise State 4-3 on 2/25. The Idaho State victory was the first against the Broncos since the 2016 season.  Haley Rainey led the Bengals holding the Broncos to just three hits and 8 strikeouts

·        Rainey Threw her first career shutout against Nevada on Mar. 4. She followed it up with an 8-0 shutout win over Seton Hall.

·        The Bengals are 2nd in the conference in batting average with a team .278 BA and 2nd in the conference in ERA with a team 3.18.

·        Idaho State leads the conference in total hits with 228.

·        Rheanne Lewis leads the conference with 37 hits and 28 runs scored.

·        Angelica Cano is second in runs scored with 26, 3rd in hits with 35 hits.  Cano leads the league in RBIS with 31 total on the season.

·        The Bengals have 35 stolen bases on the season. Rheanne Lewis leads the team with 15-15 stolen Bases.

·        ISU has the No. 2 pitching staff in the conference with a 3.18 ERA. The team leads in total strikeouts with 207 on the season.

·        Haley Rainey needs eight strike outs for her 100th career K.
