Bengals and Wildcats Set for Three-Game Contest

POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State softball returns to Miller Ranch Stadium for a weekend series with the Weber State Wildcats April 1-2, 2022.

First pitch Is set for Friday, April 1 at 1:00 PM with game two of the double header to follow 30 minutes after the conclusion.

Game three of the series will commence April 2 at 12:00 PM.

Video of the games will be broadcast on ESPN+ and Live Stats will be available.

Mark Liptak will be on the call on KISU 91.1 for game one on Friday and game three on Saturday.

Bengal Bites

·        For the 3rd time in the modern era of the program, the Bengals finished the pre-conference schedule with a winning record (16-14). ISU previously did this in 2014 and 2015

·        On 3/29 Haley Rainey was named the Big Sky Pitcher of the week for the second time this season.

·        On March 18 in the Bengal's win over Maine, Idaho State hit 6 doubles. This ties the team single game record for doubles hit.

·        In the Bengals 11-0 win over Abilene Christian  on 2/11, pitcher Emma McMurray recorded her first career shutout and the Bengals had their first mercy-rule win since 2018.

·        both Piper Tago and Isabella Hanson recorded their first NCAA Career home runs during the UTEP Invitational 2/10-12.

·        Against Cal State Fullerton on 2/19, Angelica Cano recorded the first walk-off of the season, a solo home run over center with two outs and two strikes.

·        The Bengals defeated Boise State 4-3 on 2/25. The Idaho State victory was the first against the Broncos since the 2016 season.  Haley Rainey led the Bengals holding the Broncos to just three hits and 8 strikeouts

·        Rainey Threw her first career shutout against Nevada on Mar. 4. She followed it up with an 8-0 shutout win over Seton Hall.

·        The Bengals are 2nd in the conference in batting average with a team .278 BA and 2nd in the conference in ERA with a team 3.18.

·        Idaho State is second in the conference in total hits with 249.

·        Rheanne Lewis leads the conference with 41 hits and 31 runs scored.

·        Angelica Cano is second in runs scored with 28, 3rd in hits with 39 hits.  Cano leads the league in RBIS with 32 total on the season.

·        The Bengals have 37 stolen bases on the season. Rheanne Lewis leads the team with 15-15 stolen Bases.

·        ISU has the No. 2 pitching staff in the conference with a 3.34 ERA. The team leads in total strikeouts with 207 on the season.

Quick Look – Weber State

·        The Wildcats lead the overall conference standings this season with the best start in the history of their program, 22-7.

·        Weber just earned its first win against the University of Utah this past week since 2019, it was their third Power-5 win of the season (Utah, Texas A&M, Kansas)

·        Weber and Idaho State are one and two in team ERA. The Wildcats are in first with a 2.76 ERA

·        Faith Hoe and Rheanne Lewis are tied on the year for the lead in triples with two each.

·        Arissa Henderson has the 2nd best ERA in the conference at 1.84.
