POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's volleyball team looks to continue its non-conference momentum this weekend as the Bengals head to Spokane, Wash. To compete in the Gonzaga Tournament.
The Tournament takes place over three days where the Bengals will face off against the Gonzaga Zags, The CSUN Matadors and the Nevada Wolfpack.
The first match is Thursday, Sept. 1 at 6:00 PM between ISU and Gonzaga. The Bengals then play CSUN on Friday and Nevada on Saturday.

Bengal Bites
· The Bengals went 2-1 at the Katrinka Crawford Invitational in Beaumont, Tx picking up wins against Lamar and Prairie View, A&M. The Bengals started the tournament 2-0, marking the first time since the 2010 season this occurred.
· The Bengals were on fire from the service line. In the match against PVAM, the Bengals as a team had 16 service aces, 3rd best in single-game history at ISU
· In the match against PVAM, Dani Devlin and Rachel Driskell led the charge with five service aces each, tying them both at 4th all-time in single-game service aces.
· Sadie Bluth led the Bengals offensively, racking up 34 kills with an average of 3.09/set.
· Dani Devlin had a strong weekend at the net, hitting .438 with 14 kills and 12 total blocks.
· The Bengals spread defensive duties around with six different ISU players recording digs in the double-digits over the weekend.
· Rachel Driskell led the team with 29 digs averaging 2.64/set.
Quick Scout – Gonzaga
· The Zags are 1-2 after the opening weekend of non-conference play with a win against Florida International and loses to Oklahoma and Iowa.
· The team is averaging 11.0 kills per set with 99 kills on 323 attempts
· Zoe Thiros is leading the team offensively after the first three matches, averaging three kills/set with 27 kills.
· Three Zags have four service aces each.
· Alisa Kim leads the team defensively, with 44 digs averaging 4.89/set.
· This will be the 12th time that the Bengals and Zags have met on the court. ISU leads the overall series 6-5 with a 3-1 advantage in Spokane.
· This will only be the 3rd meeting of the two programs since 2004.
Quick Scout – CSUN
· The Matadors come into the tournament 1-2 after the opening weekend of play. At the Amy Svoboda Memorial Classic, CSUN had losses against Drake and Air Force and a win against Texas A&M Commerce.
· The Matadors have 125 kills on the season, averaging 11.4/set while holding opponents to 11.1/set
· CSUN has played its opponents closely this early season with the major differences being with total errors and blocking.
· Offensively, they are led by Nicole Nevarez with 32 kills averaging 2.91/set. Defensively, Breanna Mitchell leads with 52 digs averaging 4.73/set and Lauryn Anderson leads at the net with 11 blocks after the first three matches.
· CSUN leads the all-time series 15-2, but the Bengals hold the last win the series, in 2015.
Quick Scout – Nevada
· The Nevada Wolfpack started the 2022 season 0-3 at the Sacramento State Tournament. The Wolfpack fell against Big Sky Sac State, Portland and Middle Tennessee State.
· Nevada is averaging 10.9 kills per set, but have 74 errors committed to opponents 59.
· Kayla Afoa leads Nevada offensively with 53 kills averaging 4.42 per set.
· On the line, two Nevada players have six service aces with the team recording 18 total.
· The Wolfpack spread defensive duties around with six different players recording digs in the double digits.
· The Bengals are 15-0 all-time against the Nevada Wolfpack. The two teams have not played a match since the 1995 season.
