Bengals Dominate in 3-0 Victory Over CSUN

SPOKANE, WA – The Idaho State Bengals dominated three sets of play to take down the CSUN Matadors 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 15-16) Friday afternoon at Gonzaga University. 

The Bengals never trailed in the entire match winning the first point of all three sets.

Headed into the third set, the Bengals had all the momentum. Knowing they had the Matadors on the ropes, the Bengals wasted no time, jumping out to a 6-0 lead in the decisive set. In those fist six points, the Bengals showed their dominance with three service aces from Sadie Bluth.

In a feat that is rarely, if ever seen. The Bengals showed a mark of perfection, ending the match with nine service aces to zero service errors.

The Bengals kept their foot on the gas, and extended the lead to 9-1 with an ace by Dani Devlin. The Bengals never let up winning the set 25-16 and the match 3-0.

The Bengal defense showed steady improvement throughout the match, allowing 19 points, then 18 and finally 16 in the final set.

With the win the Bengals improve to 4-1 on the season and will look to finish the Gonzaga Tournament 3-0 against Nevada tomorrow.

Record Setting Bengals

·        Sadie Bluth had a single-game record with three service aces

·        Jame Streit had a single-game record with a .458 hitting percentage.

·        As a team, the Bengals finished the match with 9 aces to 0 errors.

Bengal Bites

·        The Bengal's .343 hitting percentage is a season high and the highest since the 2019 season.

·        Four Bengals finished the match with hitting percentages over .300.

·        Jamie Streit recorded her first double-double of the season with 24 kills and 12 digs.

·        Five of the eight Bengals that played in the match recorded a service ace. The team is now at 41 aces for the season.

·        In set 2, the Bengals recorded a match-high 78 percent attack percentage going 15-19 in sideouts.
