Bengals Start CBU Classic on 2-0 Hotstreak

POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State volleyball took down the undefeated Air Force Falcons in three sets Friday morning in Riverside, California. Later in the evening, the Bengals and CBU lancers battled to five sets before the Bengals used some late game heroics to earn the victory.

In the fifth set of match two, the Bengals faced an 8-10 deficit. Facing the CBU onslaught, the Bengals didn't blink. After taking advantage of an attack error by CBU, Emrie Satuala took the Andri Dewey set for the kill, giving the Bengals an 11-10 lead.

The Bengals continued their late-game run, finishing with a 6-0 stretch to force match point. While CBU didn't give up, the Bengal's resolve held firm and Sadie Bluth cannoned the final kill of the match earning ISU its 2nd five-set victory of the season.

Idaho State is now 6-3 on the season and will look to close out the CBU Classic with a win tomorrow as the Bengals face off against UC Riverside.

Coach Carter's Thoughts

"Sidney did a great job setting in the first match with andri dealing with an injury and the offense was doing great! Emrie is starting to get on the score board which really is exciting. Match number 1 we kept errors down and were really efficient and Jamie and Sadie were great yet again! Meline really impressed me with her scoring and that really kept Airforce from over committing on other players. (Give Sidney some love she was great)

2nd match was all about errors we made much more errors than normal which hurt us and Cal Baptist had scoring at every position. We didn't quit and Emrie and Dani really carried us late with scoring. Another great match under our belt in a very loud environment against a really great opponent. Cal Baptist is a really good team that is really well coached and they are going to win a lot of matches."
