WHAT'S NEW

Things were poppin’ in 2022 for ISU Sports Performance! It started with giving the Jared Allen Strength & Conditioning Center a much needed facelift in May. The walls were updated in collaboration with Bengal Works, with modernized graphics that gives the room a vibrant and energetic feel that’s cohesive with the University. Equipment additions were made that included:

  • 15 - Rogue Multi-Grip Bars (courtesy of Blaire Zikratch, Streamline Sports Physical Therapy)
  • 9 - Rep Fitness Trap Bars (courtesy of Troy & Jamie Bell, and Corey Rasmussen of PTSI)
  • 5 - FlipSleds (courtesy of Quarterback Club)
  • 1 - Max Day Bell (courtesy of Samson Equipment)

The Jared Allen Strength & Conditioning Center was also the home of a few clinics which included a Universal Speed Rating Lab by Les Spellman, co-hosted with Hansen Athletics, as well as “Mentally Strong & Physically Fit”, co-hosted with Stronger Than. The room also laid host to presentations by local Mental Performance Consultant, Vera Jo Bustos, and strength & conditioning icon and legend, Joe “House” Kenn.

Finally, in a push to help aid our student-athletes' mental performance, the staff launched “Mental Blocks.” A weekly session discussing different mental training techniques and topics relating to podcasts produced by best-selling author, and world renowned Mental Performance Coach, Brian Cain.

NSCA STRENGTH & CONDITIONING ALL-AMERICANS

The 2021-2022 Bennion Awards served as our platform to announce the 1st Annual NSCA Strength & Conditioning All-Americans at ISU. Bengal athletics had 13 student-athletes earn All-American honors.
