POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State Bengals fought off a second-half surge by the Weber State Wildcats to take the Big Sky Conference matchup victory 65-52 in front of nearly 1,000 fans Saturday afternoon in Reed Gym.
The Roaring Bengals improve to 8-6, 3-0 BSC while the Wildcats fall to 4-11, 0-3 BSC.
Carsyn Boswell had a career night for the Bengals in the win, scoring 18 points on four of eight from the floor and clutch free-throw shooting in the final minutes of the game.
Callie Bourne and Laura Bello both recorded their fourth double-doubles of the season. Bello led with 19 points on seven-of-18 shooting with 10 boards. Bourne had 18 points and 10 rebounds.
After putting together a strong second half run, the Bengals took a 28-20 lead into the locker room at halftime.
For the second game in a row, the Bengals held an opponent to single-digit points in a first half quarter as the Wildcats only scored eight in the second.
The Wildcats attempted to storm back in the second half, taking a one points lead with 7:47 left in the 4th, but the Bengals didn't blink. Bello hit a layup to re take the lead at 43-42 and Callie Bourne followed it up with a three pointer to extend the lead to 46-42.
The Wildcats would get back to within two with three minutes left, but instead of give the lead, the Bengals hit their clutch time free throws and with a minute left in the contest had extended the lead to 11 after a pair of Boswell free throws.
At the final buzzer, the Bengals secured the 65-52 victory and remained undefeated in Big Sky play.

The Bengals are back home next week as the Montana schools come to town. First, Thursday, Jan. 12 The Bengals face off with Montana State at 7:00 PM. Then, Jan. 14 at 2:00 PM, The Bengals take on the Lady Griz of Montana.
