Bengals Take Down Wildcats to Remain Undefeated in Conference Play

POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State Bengals fought off a second-half surge by the Weber State Wildcats to take the Big Sky Conference matchup victory 65-52 in front of nearly 1,000 fans Saturday afternoon in Reed Gym.

The Roaring Bengals improve to 8-6, 3-0 BSC while the Wildcats fall to 4-11, 0-3 BSC.

Carsyn Boswell had a career night for the Bengals in the win, scoring 18 points on four of eight from the floor and clutch free-throw shooting in the final minutes of the game.

Callie Bourne and Laura Bello both recorded their fourth double-doubles of the season. Bello led with 19 points on seven-of-18 shooting with 10 boards. Bourne had 18 points and 10 rebounds.

After putting together a strong second half run, the Bengals took a 28-20 lead into the locker room at halftime.

For the second game in a row, the Bengals held an opponent to single-digit points in a first half quarter as the Wildcats only scored eight in the second.

The Wildcats attempted to storm back in the second half, taking a one points lead with 7:47 left in the 4th, but the Bengals didn't blink. Bello hit a layup to re take the lead at 43-42 and Callie Bourne followed it up with a three pointer to extend the lead to 46-42.

The Wildcats would get back to within two with three minutes left, but instead of give the lead, the Bengals hit their clutch time free throws and with a minute left in the contest had extended the lead to 11 after a pair of Boswell free throws.

At the final buzzer, the Bengals secured the 65-52 victory and remained undefeated in Big Sky play.
