POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State women's basketball snapped its six-game skid, defeating the Weber State Wildcats 57-41 Saturday afternoon in Ogden, UT.
"It felt good to get that one," remarked Head Coach Seton Sobolewski. "I thought we did a great job coming out with energy today."
After giving up the first two points of the game to the wildcats, the Bengals responded with a layup by Laura Bello and a jumper by Bridee Burks, up 2-4 early in the first, the Orange and Black never looked back.
After a slow first period, the Bengals responded strongly in the second scoring 20 points led by Bello's eight.
At the end of the first 20, the Bengals held a 29-16 lead.
After suffering some heartbreaking second halves in the past few weeks, the Bengals kept their foot on the gas, outscoring the Wildcats in the second half and taking the 57-41 victory.
For the second-consecutive game against the Wildcats, Laura Bello posted a double-double. The Bengal sophomores, 16 points and 10 rebounds led both teams and she added two steals on to her total.
Callie Bourne scored 12 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double.
The Bengals forced 24 turnovers out of Weber State and scored 15 points off of them.
Idaho State won the battle on the glass, finishing with a +9 39 to 30 rebound differential.
There is a quick turnaround for the Bengals as they are back home Monday, Feb. 6 to take on NAU at 7:00 PM MT.
