POCATELLO, Idaho – After a strong first half, the Eastern Washington Eagles pulled away over the final 20 minutes taking down the Bengals 68-46 in Cheney, Washington Saturday afternoon.
The Bengals fall to 7-10 (3-3 BSC) on the season while the Eagles move up to 15-3 (5-0 BSC).
How it Happened
The Bengals had about the best first quarter possible Saturday afternoon. The team shot eight-of-17 from the floor while holding the Eagles to four-of-18.
Tasia Jordan led the Bengals with 10 points on five made field goals in the period. Four other Bengals also scored In the opening 10.
The 2nd was a hard-fought back and forth battle with lots of attempted shots and few made baskets. The Bengals were outscored 17-13 in the 2nd but held on when it mattered at the free throw line and went into the locker room with a 31-30 lead over the conference No. 1s.
The second half, the Bengals offense struggled in the second half, while the Bengals kept fighting for the final 20 minutes, they were outscored 18-8 in the third and 20-7 in the fourth as the Eagles pulled away and closed out the 68-46 win.
Notes-
· Tasia Jordan had a strong game for the Bengals, going nine-for-20 in the game with 20 pionts scored, two steals and five rebounds.
· The Bengals had 14 turnovers to the Eagles 16, but EWU scored 15 points off turnovers to the Bengals
· This is the 2nd time Jordan has scored 20+ points in a game, first time was 22 against BYU on 12/16/23
