Ogden, UT – For the second time this season, the Idaho State Bengals slated to play their Big Sky component in the Weber State Wildcats. The Wildcats had an off start to their 2024 season, but they have caught fire in the second half winning 6 of their last 7 following their loss to Idaho State.
This matchup held as much excitement and action as one would guess, with both teams trading blows and making outstanding plays on both offense and defense. This included a diving save by
Jamie Streit to keep both the play and the Bengals alive as they fought to come back in the match.
But it proved not enough, as Weber would eventually win 3-1 in extra points in the 4
th, spoiling Idaho State's efforts to send it to the 5
th set (19-25, 25-20, 14-25, 28-26).
Sadie Bluth highlighted the offense of the Bengals, notching 14 kills on a .310 hitting percentage, including this missile of an attack in the 1
st.
In a bittersweet moment,
Jamie Streit was welcomed into the 1,000-kill club, notching her name into the ISU record book on this very play:
Following this week of play, the Bengals dropped to 2
nd place in the conference at 9-3, tied with both Sacramento State and Weber State, leaving Northern Colorado atop the standings at 10-2. In a pivotal match, Idaho State will host the Bears this upcoming Thursday as they battle for the number 1 seed in the Big Sky.
