POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State volleyball landed a trio of players on the Big Sky All-Conference teams as announced by the conference offices Tuesday.
Aliyah Sopo'aga and
Jaydin Watts earned All-Conference First Team nods, and
Jamie Streit was the third member of ISU's squad named to the all-conference teams, being named to the Big Sky All-Conference Second Team for the second straight season.
Aliyah Sopo'aga, the Bengals' senior setter, is named to the Big Sky's All-Conference First Team after a career season, recording 1,048 assists (2
nd in the Big Sky), averaging 9.36 assists per set, 110 kills on a .285 attack percentage, 279 digs, averaging 2.5 digs per set, 57 blocks, and 14 service aces. Sopo'aga would end the season second in the Big Sky in Assists and Assists per Set.
Jaydin Watts finished her sophomore season with 214 kills, averaging 1.96 kills per set on a .329 attack percentage, 149 blocks (T-12
th in the NCAA), averaging 1.37 blocks per set, which ranks No. 22 in the nation, 46 digs, and 3 assists. Watts' .329 attack percentage was the 6
th highest in Bengal Volleyball Single-Season history and 6
th in the Big Sky this season, Watts' blocks total will have her finish top 5 in Single-Season history in Block Assists and Total Blocks.
Jamie Streit was Idaho State's leading attacker, finishing the season with a team-high 327 kills, the 4
th most in the Big Sky this season. Streit ended the year with an attack percentage of .258 and averaged 2.95 kills per set. Streit would also finish her senior year off with 290 digs, 60 blocks, 33 assists, and 14 service aces. Streit became the 15
th player in Idaho State history to reach the 1,000 kill mark this season.
Northern Colorado's Syd Cole was named league MVP and Setter of the Year, Northern Arizona's Millie O'Ketter took home Libero of the Year, Carisa Barron of Portland State won Top-Newcomer, and Quincy Moran of Eastern Washington received Outstanding Freshman of the Year. UNC Head Coach Lyndsey Oates claimed Coach of the Year after leading her team to the regular-season title.
Idaho State finished the regulae season as the #2 seed in the Big Sky Conference after being picked to finish 7
th in the Preseason Big Sky Coaches' Poll. The 2
nd seeded Bengals begin play in the Big Sky Conference Tournament Wednesday, November 27
th against No. 7 Northern Arizona. Opening serve will be at 5 p.m. MT in Sacramento, California.
